Dominican Republic Coffee...
Our coffee is direct trade, meaning it comes directly from the Dominican Republic to our door in DuBois, PA.
My husband and I vacationed in the DR several years ago and discovered it was the best tasting coffee we had ever had! I then contacted local farmers and brokers to figure out how to share it with our family and friends. In November 2009, Java Joey became a micro-roaster, roasting Dominican coffee, in the heart of DuBois, PA.
The coffee beans are grown in the Barahona region of the DR. Barahona is the southwestern tip of the Central Range Mountains in the Dominican Republic. Barahona is the name of a coastal port that is an important city, closest to the mountains. With a unique climate and year-round rainfall, Barahona has a long growing season that allows the coffee cherries to ripen slowly, producing an excellent taste in the finishing product!
The coffee is rich, has a creamy body and low acidity. That is why many consider it to be the best coffee throughout the Dominican Republic!
We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
